ROTI BAWEAN


Have been feeling really lousy lately due to the flu which I'm having now. Was on mc , not well enough- I took my own leave to rest. Came back to work next day, ok. Day after, lethargic again. I guess the flu virus is 'in the air' lately. Alas Sunday, thought would be able to rest right? NO, wrong. Got to come back for OT. Wish someone could rescue me and willing to 'earn' the OT pay. It was not to be though. Well, I have to put up a brave and 'healthy' front arr- anyway, 6 hours isn't that bad..

Was home before the Asar prayers. As my other half is not cooking today, me and my big mouth had earlier promised I'll whip up some easy food for dinner. So after prayers, I started preparing for a really simple food- Roti Bawean. Even the mandatory sambal tumis was also omitted. My other half was kind of concerned. "Never mind lah, you dont have to cook. You're not well either". But I guess, I need to fulfill my promise as she kept her part - she already boiled the potatoes. So, in 1 hour's time, it was ready. The recipe is simple, which I have came across in one of our local cook book but with a little modification.

Btw, me also having problems with my pc. Can't really make out whether it was a virus attack or something else. Izad or Lela- if you're reading...SOS plse!!

ROTI BAWEAN

Bahan-Bahan Kulit
650 gm tepung gandum
320 ml air suam-suam panas
60 ml minyak sayur
2 sudu makan minyak sapi
½ sudu teh baking powder
1 sudu teh gula
½ sudu teh garam

Cara:
Satukan air suam panas, minyak, minyak sapi, baking powder, gula dan garam di dalam sebuah bekas. Masukkan tepung sedikit demi sedikit dan uli sehingga menjadi doh yg lembut. Buatlah beberapa bebola mengikut saiz yg anda inginkan. Biarkan sebentar.

Bahan Inti
1 kg kentang (dibersihkan & direbus hingga empuk, kemudian buang kulit dan lecek)
3 biji telur (kocok sedikit)
sedikit daun sup/bawang (dihiris)
2 biji bawang besar (potong dadu)
sedikit sayur campur (optional)
secukup lada putih serbuk
garam secukup rasa

Cara
Gaul semua bahan dan sesuaikan rasanya.

Cara Membuat Roti Bawean (1)
Canai satu bebola doh yg direhatkan tadi hingga menjadi sekeping bulatan. Isikan dgn inti dan lipatlah menjadi persegi empat. Goreng diatas kuali leper seperti menggoreng roti canai.Bubuh minyak sekali-sekala dan angkatlah setelah Roti Bawean ini kekuning-kuningan.

Cara Membuat Roti Bawean (2)
Ambil dua bebola doh. Satu di canai leper menjadi sekeping bulatan. Yg satu lagi dicanai nipis sekali menjadi bulatan besar. Kemudian bubuh minyak sedikit ke atasnya. Setelah itu, doh dilipat-lipat dan disusun seperti siput. Rehatkan sebentar. Setelah itu canai semula menjadi leper. Ambil doh pertama tadi dan bubuh inti. Kemudian tindihkan dgn doh kedua ini dan tutup dgn kemas lalu dikelim. Goreng hingga masak.

~Kita suka makan roti Bawean ni. Pernah buat versi Kak Rossya dulu. Makan dengan sambal tumis.. sedapnya!!!

Thanks mama. Alhamdulillah, on a positive note, sakit ni kan kira nak menghapuskan dosa-dosa kita. Roti Bawean ni mmg sedap mkn dgn sambal- saya suka sambal tumis ikan bilis atau sotong kering. Nyamann....

Ana dah try. Memang best..tapi itu tekak kita...org lain tk tau le..hehe..ada org kata, kalau org tak biasa makan, tak tau how to appreciate this. Tapi, bagi kita yg memBesar dgn roti boyan ni,...mak nyamen ongku! (meaning in Bawean - mak oi..sedap betul!)

Memang sodap roti boyan ni. Kena pulak dgn sambal tumis ikan bilis. Sedar tak sedar 2 keping selesai!!! heheh...
