There are 3 ladies in my house namely, my wife Ariati and 2 daughters Nur Syazwani and Nur Farah Dinah. Two gentleman (or simple men rather, hehe..) to keep the ladies company, are my eldest son Muhd Nur Hazwan and of course me lah.. who else! Hazwan is in a local Polytechnic, Syazwani and Farah are in Sec 4/Pr 5 respectively.
Besides me & my wife, my two daughters occasionally help out in some of our food preparation. This is a good way of exposing them to the finer points of cooking and equipping them with the knowledge that every girl/woman and perhaps... in the modern world society, man... should know. It's a life-long skill which can only be perfected thru practices. As the saying goes, "practice makes perfect". But I do believe nobody is perfect except God the Almighty. Still, striving for excellence is what one should aim for. At the end of the day when you have tried hard but the results are less than excellent/perfect, no one could fault you for not trying.. You've done your best! Be happy with that.
Besides the occasional helping out at the kitchen with cooking, my daughters also enjoy doing their other school activities. As parents, my wife and myself do not stipulate or dictate what our daughters should involved in as long it is within the norms of our social, cultural and religious boundaries.
Syazwani loves to draw and she can practically make a replica of characters (such as spiderman, cartoon, etc) she sees. Becoming an artist is uppermost on her mind but well... she has to endure another 2 years in Junior College first..
Farah had been and is always called upon by her teachers to represent her class/school in various competitions such as story-telling, Quizes, and many more. I guess its difficult for her to say no when her name is selected to represent her class/school in any competition. On the other hand, this exposure is good for building her self-confidence and self-esteem. Just like last year when she rep school in a story-telling competition. Even though she only got a consolation prize, I admired her for her bravery and confidence.

ReplyDeleteThanks Rossya. As parents we normally want the best for our children, hence our non-stop guidance & advice to them since they are young. But eventually, as they grow, it's them who are going to choose the path in this life-time journey seeking God's blessing along the way. We can only hope & pray for the best, Insya'allah.
